Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Thursday announced that it will restart production at its plant in Bidadi from 20th July following revised directives from the Karnataka government.
Earlier, operations at the TKM Bidadi plant were suspended from the second shift on 14th July in accordance to an initial order by the state government. On July 6 as well, Toyota Kirloskar Motor suspended operations at the manufacturing plant for a day following the death of an employee due to COVID-19.
The revised directives issued by the Karnataka government allow residents in Bengaluru urban and rural districts to move and commute for industries located inside the industrial estates, which prompted TKM to announce the restart of production from 20th July.
The automaker said that only 40 to 45 percent of the production workforce has been attending work so as to maintain all norms of social distancing at its facility. It also claimed that TKM has modified its medical insurance to include COVID-19 treatment and also increased the coverage for all its employees and their family members.
